I must confess. I was super busy last week having a life...both professional and real (and that will continue next week) and I am thoroughly enjoying myself.

Finally, let's talk fandom. I finished all the entries at bj_action and I can now say WOW...those were all great, the stories, the graphics, the vid. If you haven't played over there, you're missing out and I shall pity you. However, if you have played over there and you haven't left massive amounts of fawning, I'm very disappointed in you!

I jinxed myself yesterday by playing hooky. I ended up feeling like crap by the end of the day and my head is still stuffy. sighs.

I'm home for like 40 minutes between dockets and errands. Just enough time for me to freshen up. BLAH.

Wish me luck at my hearing this afternoon. I'm fighting to have my clients (3 boys) returned home. It's a long story but this case has been adjourned twice before & it's a huge mess. I'll be fighting the removal which is something that is rarely done. It's the first time I've done it but after doing my homework (and trust me, I did...by the time this case is over I'll probably get paid $10/hour for all the work I've put in) I'm convinced that removal was premature.

I haven't had a chance to read ANY of the fics or played with any of the goodies at bj_action yet so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FLIST DO ME A FAVOR AND GO CHECK THEM OUT AND SMOTHER EVERYONE WITH LOVE.

I know I sound like a broken record but participation is what keeps fandom alive!

Guess what happened in Court yesterday.

One of the in custody juvenile defendants escaped from custody through the panels in the ceiling, escaped out of the building and was later found locked in a Judge's trunk.

And in case you think I'm making it up: ARTICLE

For once, I was lucky and it wasn't my client. LOL

Ugggg, I just need a bitch a minute. Lucky you guys.

I'm so annoyed with clients right now that I am wondering why I even bother sometimes. Two clients (plus my brother but that's a WHOLE other story) didn't show up for court and I had to call them both AND WAIT AN HOUR for them to show the hell up. Come on people, I have more important things to do like play with pictures of my nephew, update files and complete billings (all from waaaay before I went out of town).

Anyway, then they're both nonchalant, like HELLO, I just saved your ass from a bench warrant. ~grrrrrr~

Ok, enough about that. Reason is doing so much better, so I thought I'd share another picture of him.

Work front: Had a client today whose record is like as long as I am tall complete with armed robberies and he's going to tell me that there's a huge difference between be charged with Resisting and Obstructing an officer (a 2 year felony) and the four year one when an injury is caused because it's a crime of moral turpitude. YA THINK??????? How about all those other crimes. Sheesh. *Debbie smacks him on the head*

I was in court yesterday and we (the prosecutor and I) were looking at my client's record. He'd been acquitted of murder and a couple of ccw charges over 20 years ago. The prosecutor was like, "mmmmmmmm, he's beat all these charges, maybe I don't want to give him that deal afterall" (sic)

One of the other prosecutors (there were four - yes, I was out numbered lol) says: Sometimes you can tell more about a person by the crimes they've been acquitted of than their convictions (sic).

I said, "Yes, that they're not guilty." And I said it pretty firmly, which might be a little out of character for me when we're in the back shooting the shit, but for fuck's sake, he was found NOT GUILTY...that is supposed to mean something in this country.

I got my deal. :)

Today was a much better day and since it seems wrong to whine all the time, I'll share a bit of the good too. :)

A HUGE thank you to everyone for their well wishes on my interview today. I ♥ you guys so much.

Everything went really well, IMO anyway. LOL. We chatted for about an hour mostly about my practice. It's funny how I sound so much more interesting when I talk about myself than when I think about myself. *snort*

They'll make their decision by the end of next week. It could go either way. I think he was impressed with me but they had a lot of applicants and while he told me several times that my qualifications were unique and that I brought a lot to the table, I don't have any practical experience with this type of law. They're not looking for a lot of experience and I'd be ready to run with litigation, and client interviews etc, but some of the more paper intensive stuff I don't have much experience with, so we'll see how things shake out. :)

For those of you who commented in my post, I'm starting work on the drabbles right now. Hopefully I can get a few done this weekend. :)

ETA: DUH...thanks to kata_ny for reminding me to include a hair update. I LOVE my hair. She got the shade perfect. It's back to it's purplish - merlotish color and I'm thrilled. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE She cut out all the leftover nasty hightlights and the cut is adorable if I do say so myself. ;)

I'm so nervous-excited-even a little confident.

I got an interview. It's scheduled for Saturday morning. LJA;LDFJ;ALSDFDFADSF

Now, I just have to prepare. Review the big case that the lawyer I'm interviewing with won that made law. Review their website and the types of cases they're currently handing. And you know, the really important decision: WHAT TO WEAR!

I finally got my check today.

However, since nothing comes easy to me, there's a story behind it. I got to my mailbox place just as the mail arrived and they were nice enough to dig through it so that I could call the Finance Department before everyone left for lunch.

No check. sighs...and sobs.

Then the Finance Department told me I had to wait until Monday before they'd cancel and reissue. sobs some more.

However this turned out to be the best move yet because as I was standing in the middle of the grocery store, my phone rang...it was my mailbox place. They found my check at the bottom of the bin.

I rushed back there and sure enough, it had come...thank god. I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off of my chest and I can finally breathe again.
