I have been a HORRIBLE fangirl lately. I promise to try to be better because fandom is very important to me and so are all of you guys...and let's not forget about Brian and Justin and the rest of the gang.

I think it has been firmly established that noteverything is a 314 whore. And who could blame her. I mean it has everything...come see what we mean.

When I watch 502, I'm always struck by the equality between Brian and Justin at the end of the episode. I could start with the sex, but instead, I'm going to actually begin this analysis after the sex scene ends (yes I know, shocking, the porn whore is skipping the porn - bite me). Although it would be remiss of me not to point out how in tune they are with each other during that entire scene, right through the teasing about whether or not it was great.

I've seen several people talking over the last couple of days about how they feel out of touch with Queer As Folk or a little disconnected.

When this happens to me...and it does happen, more often lately, but there is one thing that ALWAYS brings me back. It's a walk down Nostalgia Lane. I watch 101-103. I never fail to laugh at Michael, Em, and Ted at the bar or swoon over Brian and Justin's first kiss. Let's not forget "Parts Department", the birth of stalker!Justin, or Brian's look at the end of 102. And I challenge you not to laugh when Emmett faints in 102 or feel for Ted when he meets Blake for the first time .Brian licking down Justin's ass makes me DIE and LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY always sends chills coursing through my body.

So I've got a challenge for my entire flist. Go forth and watch 101-103 and soak up the memories and cherish the start of this great show of ours. Then, after, you fall in love all over again, drop by this post and post something...doesn't matter if it's something you never noticed before, your favorite laugh, your favorite scene, a comment about Brian's hair, or Emmett's tangerine pants....just come bask in the nostalgia with me!

REFLECTION

I sipped my water, feeling it soothe my dry throat as the wind blew against the window. Three days after my last treatment, and I was finally keeping water down. I shivered when I leaned my forehead against the window; another never-ending winter in the Pitts.

The loft door slid open and then closed as Justin tried to be quiet. I listened to him rummaging in the kitchen as he put groceries away. A few minutes passed, and I heard his soft footsteps heading towards the bedroom before he saw me and stopped. I sensed his gaze on my back as I watched the snow falling, too exhausted to move.

Justin wrapped his arms around me, then took the water bottle from me, putting it on the windowsill. Justin’s body pressed against me, almost as cold as the window. I relaxed into him anyway, shuddering a little from the chill. I felt him heating up, warming me, as we stared out the window together.

Warm breath tickled me as Justin nuzzled my neck and lapped at it with his tongue, nibbling and sucking my skin. I let my head roll to the side and moaned as he pressed sloppy, open-mouthed kisses up and down my neck. I felt him sucking my ear and couldn’t hear the wind anymore. He shifted, slipping in front of me, hugging me close, and the cold was gone.

I leaned into him as his fingers trailed through my hair and pulled me down for a kiss. His lips were warm against mine and I kissed him back.

“Are you cold?”

“Not anymore.” I pulled him close as he nestled against me.

I remembered the snowflakes felt cold when we said good-bye on that long-ago sidewalk. What I knew when I walked away from him was that the time was wrong.

I listened to the wind blowing the snow against the window, and thought of all the secret ways I'd dreamed of meeting him again. I smiled, because bumping into each other at a ski lodge wasn't one of them.

I pulled the covers up, and shifted closer to Ted as he slept with his arm across my chest. I watched him sleeping, and this time I knew the time was right.

The truth is, I'm just like you.

Actually, that's not the truth. Sure, in a lot of ways, I am just like you. I want to be happy, some security, a little extra money in my pocket. In many ways, my life is nothing like your's. Why should it be? Do we all have to have the same lives to have the same rights? I thought diversity was what this country was all about.

In the gay community, we have drag queens, leather daddies, tranies, and couples with children...every color of the rainbow. My mother, who is standing way in the back with some friends, my friends, once told me that, "People are like snowflakes. Everyone is special and unique and in the morning you have to shovel them off the driveway." Being different is what makes us all the same. It's what makes us family.

This is the first time I've been motivated to be actively involved in a political campaign. I'm a little obsessed but please, no interventions, I'm having fun. The only down side is that it's sort of muffled my fandom muses. For instance, anyone have some bunnies for a fic for bj_action? I've got nothing. LOL

Right now, I'm working on a board for the picnic. I'll take a picture when I get it done. Oh and I registered my first voter yesterday. squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

As most of you know, this is my one true fandom. I've never had experiences with other fandoms, Queer as Folk, Brian and Justin in particular, are it for me. Maybe, because of this fact, I don't always understand the dynamics of fandom. If that's true, perhaps that's where some of this comes from but I don't know for sure.

I enjoyed Queer as Folk as a whole from episode 101 thru 513. I liked all the characters, as a whole. I might not like every little thing they did and sometimes they down right annoyed me, but looking at them as a whole and how they changed or grew, I liked them. I laughed with them, cried with them, and loved with them. Watching is always a great experience.

I embrace the campy storylines, scenes, and/or lines. I embrace the humor, the wonky timeline, and Brian's season five hair. (LOL) I accept the insanity of the legal storylines and the medical storylines even when I want to poke my eyes out. It's canon and therefore, in my world, law.

I love Michael even when he's letting Brian manipulate him and especially when he forms his family with Ben and Hunter and let's not forget his speech in 513. Melanie and Lindsay make great parents for Gus and Jenny (yes, calling her Jenny is canon too). I love Debbie to the moon and back. Her heart, while not always right, is always in the right place. Emmett's journey is beautiful and I'll never understand anyone who doesn't love Emmett. Ted, Teddy, Theodore, our silly, dorky, little Ted, what a hard road you walked but you found yourself with the help and support of your friends.

It's all canon: all the heartbreak, all the humor, all the silliness, all the pain, all the love, all the sex.

So, I enjoyed the show and I accept and even embrace canon, but what turned me into a fangirl? That's easy. It's teh love...Brian and Justin. It's their magic that drew me into the show and made me FEEL everything going on around them. And here's the thing, they accept and embrace the people in their life, including each other. Do they have disagreements or fights? Of course, but they NEVER hate each other. This show is about love and acceptance and family. No one does that better than Brian and Justin as they learn to accept themselves, each other, their love and their family. It's truly a wondrous show to watch and I wouldn't change a thing...and neither would they.

I've been busy all over the place!

I finished my ficlet for qaf_scavenger's KISSING CONTEST.

I feel good about that because I'm trying to find more time to write and that's been hard lately.

I spent yesterday with my Dad, he's officially 60 and old. hee, at least that's what chet_lemon and I teased him with. Here's a cute story. We usually go to dinner at the local CHILI'S. It's pretty much mid-way between our homes. Yesterday, chet_lemon and I beat Dad there, so we got a table. Our normal waitress comes up and says, "How did you guys beat crabby?" BWHAHAHAHA Then she noticed the presents and said, "Is it his birthday?" It was super sweet. My sister and I laughed about it the whole way home. "Mr. Crabby"...so appropriate. LOL

Since then, I've been holed up working on a super-sekrit project.

I've seen some really awesome graphics around lately and it got me thinking about the asylums. I love the banners that silent_seas made but they've been up for over 2 years so I thought I'd ask you guys what you think, therefore, I did a poll.

I'm so amazed by all the great stuff I've been reading, gazing at and watching over the last week.
